Biography
Michael Goldsby is an Associate Professor of Philosophy for the School of Politics, Philosophy, and Public Affairs at Washington State University. His primary research interest is in philosophy of science – with a particular interest in biology, ecology, and climate science. He started at WSU in 2013, shortly after receiving his Ph.D. in Philosophy from the University of Wisconsin-Madison the same year. Upon arriving at WSU, Dr. Goldsby has engaged in many interdisciplinary research projects aimed at managing natural resources in the face of climate change (e.g., The Columbia River FEW Storage Project; Rivers, Watersheds, Communities; the Climate-Based Human Migration Project). He has also developed an interest in questions at the science-policy interface and has developed a number of popular talks and projects aimed at understanding the relationship between science, policy, and the public. Dr. Goldsby teaches classes in philosophy of science and logic at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, and has won numerous awards for his teaching effectiveness. Finally, Dr. Goldsby is also a veteran of the US Army.
