PPPA Research Colloquium

A monthly gathering for faculty and graduate students to present their research in philosophy and political science—and to hear from scholars who are visiting WSU. The event provides an opportunity for scholars to get feedback on their work from a friendly audience and offers the school’s faculty and students the opportunity to learn something new.

Since its inception in the fall of 2003, the symposium has sponsored dozens of talks by faculty, graduate students, and guests from other universities.

Recent speakers have included Michael Wahman (University of Texas, Austin), “Varieties of Representation in African One- and Multiparty Parliaments”, and Avishay Ben Sasson Gordis (Tel Aviv University), who presented “Does Peacetime Military Conscription Make Democratic Sense?”

The colloquium typically meets three times each semester in the PPPA conference room. Fall 2026 will expand the talks to twice monthly. Please email PPPA@WSU.EDU for a zoom link
